Leijac Establishes North American Subsidiary
Veteran Japanese Arcade Developer to Publish Console Titles in the U.S. and Canada
EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 20, 2002--Leijac Co., Ltd., a developer of arcade video games based in Nagoya, Japan, today announced the establishment of Leijac of America, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary that will publish and market the company's titles for home video game systems in North America. The new company is headquartered in El Segundo, Calif.
Leijac of America will be led by Masashi Ito, who has been named President. Mr. Ito previously served as Executive Vice President of Leijac Co., Ltd., where he has overseen product development since the company's founding.
"For thirteen years our games have been enjoyed by customers at amusement facilities throughout Japan," said Ito. "We believe the time is right to bring these titles to a new audience at home. We look forward to introducing North American players to Leijac."
Leijac of America expects to announce its initial lineup of titles in the coming months. Company representatives will be available for meetings during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, May 22-24, by appointment.
